Tapestry (parent company of Coach) expects to lose $160 million to tariffs this year

→ Strong sales didn’t shield the parent company of Coach and Kate Spade from big duty-related costs.

→ CFO Scott Roe cited the end of the “de minimis” exemption as a major factor.

→ Tapestry plans to offset the impact over time through pricing, manufacturing shifts, and efficiency moves.

Sam Altman brought back GPT-4o last week after user backlash

→ OpenAI is tweaking GPT-5’s tone to be “warmer” (but less obsequious than GPT-4o), and improving customization.

→ Advertisers will soon pay to have their solutions appear directly in Grok’s chatbot suggestions.

→ He said X and Grok were excluded from Apple’s “Must Have” section.

3/ What We Found Interesting

What happened when a product was recalled

→ Recalls aimed to protect public safety by alerting consumers and removing dangerous items.

→ Systems evolved in the 1900s: the FDA (1906) first oversaw food and drugs, and the CPSC (1972) took charge of broader consumer goods.

→ Recalls are either voluntary (by companies) or mandatory (ordered by regulators), with improved data and public tracking making them more transparent.
